WHO'S IT FOR?

BUDDING ACTORS AND DIRECTORS

Stage makers is for wannabe actors and wannabe technicians! In lessons we all learn all aspects of theatre, so for the first term we will be focusing on backstage and stage management elements - learning how to rig lights, programming, lighting design, stage management roles etc.

Then we will utilise those skills and create a company that has full ownership of the show. Students will make up the acting company and the stage management and backstage team and come together to put on a show in the summer!

BUDDING TECHNICIANS AND STAGE MANAGERS

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at stage management? Or are you interested in lighting and sound? Stage Makers offer training to those with a flare for backstage!

Term one (September-December) will involve weekly 1.5 hour workshops learning the skills. In workshops facilitated by Courtney, Matt and numerous visiting teachers, altogether, performers and technicians will work together to learn about all aspects of theatre. We work as a united team and come together to create a showcase performance of all that we have learnt. Included in the showcase will be elements from all students -  such as a choreographed scene change, a piece of devised theatre from a stimulus, a lighting design that has been created to a piece of music, a scripted scene that has been developed AND MUCH MUCH MORE!

Term Two and Three (January-July) - The weekly workshops continue, utilising the skills to produce a play as a company of young people. The group of performers take the roles and the backstage crew make up the stage management team and cover all backstage roles in the performance. In July the play will be performed!

It is a brilliant opportunity to gain important, quality experience in a safe and nurturing environment.
